Full-time or Part-time Receptionist and Legal Assistant

Nelson Law, a busy and growing criminal law, family law, and civil litigation law firm is seeking a receptionist/legal assistant to join our team of three attorneys and one other full-time legal assistant in our professional and fast-paced downtown Sturgis office.
Previous experience working in an office setting is preferred, however, we are willing to train any smart, hardworking, motivated, and disciplined individual who wants to turn their current job into a fun and meaningful professional career with room for advancement. The successful applicant will have a strong work ethic and will demonstrate consistent attention to detail.

Required Proficiencies: The successful applicant will have a pleasant and professional demeanor and will be able to quickly learn several basic, web-based law office management software programs and demonstrate competence with basic typing and using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.

Primary responsibilities: This is a front-line receptionist position staffing the front desk of our Sturgis office and answering most incoming phone calls. In addition, you will be the primary staff support for attorney Nate Nelson working to keep his calendar up to date, organize client meetings, facilitate client communication, and work closely with Nate on his files.
Wage: $14/hour at hire. This is a new position with opportunity for advancement as we continue to grow and as you demonstrate your value to the firm.
Hours: 40 hours/week. 8-5. Monday through Friday with the usual paid holidays and an hour-long lunch break. We are happy to accommodate parents wanting to pick-up/drop-off children from school and run similar errands during normal working hours. We are also willing to consider a higher starting wage, more PTO, an alternate working schedule, or part-time proposals from uniquely qualified candidates.
Vacation. 40 hours paid time off (PTO) upon hire. 40 additional hours PTO after 6 months. 120 hours PTO/year after that.

Health Insurance. We do not presently offer health insurance or retirement benefits, but we hope to someday.
